YOUTH OPENS THE SPACE 2

active participation for sustainable development

Global Educaion Week around the world in progress
Between 16th and 22nd of November we celebrate this year Global Education Week. Many different initiatives are organised all over the world and we’re proud that ideas for some of them were born during one of our projects – international forum for youthworkers “Youth Opens the Space”. Below, for your inspiration, we present some examples of actions planned by our friends from different countries who took a part in the project. More information and detailed descriprions of all GEW actions taken be our partners will be available in few weeks.

  • Croatia, School of sustainable development

During the Global Education Week, Foundation of the University of Rijeka will organize the first Student School of Sustainable Development (SSSD). The main activity, School of Sustainable Development, will bring together 25 students, 5 lecturers and 8 volunteers who will jointly try to find out more about the core concept of sustainable development, as well as the means of action when technology fails or when sustainability itself becomes unsustainable. The event will be preceded by an exhibition of the Academy of Applied Arts’ students who will be demonstrating their artistic view on the sustainable development issues.

  • Greece, e-initiative for water responsible consumption

We plan to make an e-initiative for water responsible consuming, as we had discussed about back in Poland. So, our idea is to start an email chain who will ask people to stop consuming water for one hour on the Wednesday the 18th of November, for example from 18.00 till 19.00.

  • Poland, lectures, movie shows and workshops

ISZ Assotiation from Krakow Nowa Huta organizes series of interesting lectures, movie shows and workshops. Programme available at http://www.isz.free.ngo.pl/program.html

  • Germany, informative action for students and brochure on how to organize sustainable seminar

I am gonna tell my students ( I am a tutor for the new students this semester) about Global Education Week during that time and tell about our seminar. I am also busy with the long term project – a brochure about how to organise a seminar under sustainable aspects.
